My Journey Through Birth Trauma, Postpartum Depression, and Reclaiming Myself
I thought I had done everything right. I read the books, took the classes, and prepared for the birth I had envisioned. But nothing could have prepared me for what actually happened.
The birth was traumatic—not in a dramatic, movie-worthy way, but in a way that left an invisible scar, lingering in my body, my emotions, and my very sense of self. My newborn was colicky, crying for hours on end, while I sat in the dark, exhausted, depleted, and more alone than I had ever felt in my life.
Postpartum depression wrapped itself around me like a suffocating fog. Then, as if the emotional and mental weight weren’t enough, my body began to break down, too. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder—my body physically manifesting the stress, the trauma, the sheer survival mode I had been living in.
I didn’t recognize myself anymore. Not just physically, but emotionally. Mentally. Spiritually.
The Turning Point: Choosing to HEAL
I refused to accept that this was just how motherhood had to be—that sacrificing my health, my mind, and my identity was the price of being a “good mom.”
So I started searching for answers. Not just temporary relief, but deep, lasting transformation.
That search led me back to my childhood, to the patterns I had unknowingly absorbed long before becoming a mother. To the unspoken expectations I had placed on myself. To the realization that my struggles weren’t just about sleepless nights and a difficult baby; they were about everything I had been conditioned to believe about womanhood and motherhood.
And that’s when I started to HEAL.

Why This Matters for Every Woman
The biggest lesson I learned? Healing isn’t just for mothers who are already struggling—it’s for any woman who has ever felt lost, overwhelmed, or disconnected from herself.
Because the best way to have a thriving motherhood—or simply a thriving life—is to lay the foundation before you reach a breaking point.
HEALing isn’t just about recovering from trauma. It’s about preventing it. It’s about stepping into motherhood, or any season of life, with clarity, confidence, and a foundation that won’t crumble under pressure.
I share my full journey—and the exact steps I took to transform my experience—in my book, The HEALed Mother. Whether you’re a new mom, a woman preparing for motherhood, or someone navigating mental health challenges, this book is for you.
